Children, pets, baggage & bikes

Check out our 'Travelling with us' section for more information on travelling with Children, pets, baggage, bikes, surfboards & kayaks. Know what you can take with you on your sailing and if there is a charge to do so.

How to measure your vehicle

If you are not sure if your vehicle is a standard size (up to 5.5 metres) in length we recommend you measure from the front bumper to the rear bumper or tow bar.  That is the measurement we require to ensure we have enough space on the ferry to load your vehicle.

If you have bike racks, kayaks, or building supplies that hang over the length of your vehicle, you’ll need to book a vehicle space the entire length of the overhang. Boat trailers will need to be measured from the 'hitch' connection to the end of the outboard motor or any overhang. If you can tilt your engine once parked then we can use that measurement.

Measuring your vehicle correctly is critical during summer or long holiday weekends when the ferries are full.  We cannot guarantee passage if you incorrectly measure your vehicle.

Light trucks, trailers, motorhomes & trucks

We carry a large variety of different vehicles on our ferries. If you are travelling with trailers, caravans, motorhomes, buses, light trucks or a truck and trailer unit you will need to have your vehicle length (and weight) so we can give you a quote and make your booking. These bookings require assistance from one of our Customer Service team on (09) 300 5900 or 0800 SEALINK (0800 732 546) and cannot be booked on line.

Groups

If you’re travelling as part of a group of more than 10 people, you may like to have a look at our group travel as discounts may apply.

Once you have booked and paid you’ll receive a confirmation via email with details of check-in and departure information. Please bring your booking number with you for check-in.

Reduced mobility discount

SeaLink seeks to accommodate our passengers with reduced mobility (i.e. who are unable to walk, or require the use of a wheel chair, or who are blind, or who have other medical conditions or disabilities that makes it difficult for them to walk and who require physical contact or close supervision to safely get around and cannot be left unattended) where possible. Please note, our ferries do have some limitations in service and facilities where the design and construction of our vessels can make it difficult for passengers with reduced mobility to negotiate. We recommend in this instance to travel with an able-bodied companion to assist during the voyage.

A 50% discount off the standard passenger or vehicle price including one accompanying passenger ticket free of charge is available to passengers with reduced mobility. Any additional accompanying support person is entitled to a 50% discount off the standard adult, senior or child fare (whichever is applicable). This discount is not applicable to any Residents Fares, concession passes, or monthly passes.

It is important that you notify our team at the time of booking if you require assistance or wish to purchase a reduced fare on grounds of reduced mobility. Please phone (09) 300 5900 for bookings and further information.

How to pay

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Diners Club and Flexipay for online or telephone bookings. EFTPOS is also available at all our terminals. Cheques and cash are no longer accepted.

Disruptions, amendments and cancellations

We like to think we’re the most reliable way to get you to wherever you’re going. Sometimes conditions change and disruptions occur. If we cancel a sailing due to rough weather, you’re entitled to a full refund.

Amendments and cancellation fees may be charged, depending on your circumstances. If you’re running late and are going to miss your ferry, please call us on 0800 SEALINK and let us know. That way, we can change your booking to another sailing time.
