Houses and yachts
If you need to move a house, yacht or heavy equipment such as roading vehicles you will need to charter either the Sea Quest or Seabridge ferries. These ferries can carry heavy loads. Depending on the size house you are moving, it will need to be lifted on a trailer up and over the bow to be transported.
Livestock and heavy equipment
Heavy equipment such as roading vehicles will need to travel on either Sea Quest or Seabridge ferries as they have wide open decks. Steel tracked vehicles (diggers, bulldozers, excavators etc) must travel on a trailer, as steel tracked vehicles are not permitted on the decks of any of the SeaLink ferries.
Treasure Islands
If you are thinking of chartering a ferry to one of the following destinations you will be travelling to one of the 'Hauraki Gulf Treasure Islands' and biosecurity standards will apply - Rangitoto, Tiritiri Matangi, Motutapu, Motukorea/Browns, Motuihe, Kawau, Rakino, Pakatoa, Ponui and Rotoroa.
The 'Treasure Islands' campaign is a joint initiative between DOC and Auckland Council to help protect conservation islands in the Hauraki Gulf. There's plenty to love about Auckland's awesome island treasures, from sea birds to tuatara and takahē. The campaign ensures we all play our part to guard these special places.
SeaLink holds Pest-free warrants showing we have met DOC and Auckland council's biosecurity standards for all of our vehicle and passenger ferries. Read more on how to help keep our Hauraki Gulf islands pest-free.
